Today’s reading is found in Hebrews 10:23 (NLT)
Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.
Understanding that “God can be trusted to keep his promise,” can seem elusive or difficult to take in. The truth is there are aspects of God’s character that are incomprehensible for us. God is hard to understand because there’s nothing else in creation like Him. We need Him to reveal Himself to us and help us understand Him. Thankfully, He does just that.
Much of what we know about God comes from what He revealed about Himself through Jesus, Immanuel, God with us. Jesus showed us God’s character – who He is and how He acts. As we read about Jesus’ interactions with people and see how He loved, we come to know God more, to trust Him more.
Then we can “hold tightly” to what we know to be true.
Take some time today to focus your mind on Christ, the Messiah, and consider this question:
Is your trust in God’s promises unwavering? What is one area where you know you have not held tightly to hope?
