Today’s reading is found in Lamentations 3:21-24 (NLT)
Yet I still dare to hope
when I remember this:
The faithful love of the Lord never ends!
His mercies never cease.
Great is his faithfulness;
his mercies begin afresh each morning.
I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance;
therefore, I will hope in him!”
Throughout the Old Testament, we read about how God’s people longed for and hoped in God’s promise of a Messiah, anointed one, whom God could send to bless and defend His people. In the New Testament, we read about the fulfillment of that hope when Jesus was born. Jesus’ birth brought about the plan for reconciliation and restoration of our broken relationship with God.
Scripture also promises that one day Jesus will return, sin will be gone forever, and our relationship with God will be restored once and for all. We eagerly await that day with hope because we know God keeps His promises.
Take some time today to focus your mind on Christ, the Messiah, and consider this question:
Reflect on a time in your life when you struggled to keep hoping? How can these verses help you?
